Traditional Adaptation

Client: Cool Haven, SA

Site: Coimbra Iparque, Portugal

Adaptation of the Traditional housing model

Original Architecture: Cool Haven, SA

Design Adaptation: Guilherme Murta

Destination: Mozambique, Angola, Peru

Phase: Prototype

Year: 2012-2014

This exercise involved an evolution from the original architecture of the Traditional Haven model, by Cool Haven, SA, which took place throughout the years, in order to meet the demands of different markets in the African and South American Continent.

Originally meant to tune the construction method of several units in Mozambique, the prototype was built during the year 2012 and became a case study for the following projects.

After that, several changes were introduced and planned to adapt its architecture to some low-cost contracts in Angola or Peru, as the construction process itself was effectively enhanced by the company’s development department in order to decrease the building span on-site.

The prototype was later transformed by the company into a building support unit and sent to a construction-site in France.

Simple study & design adaptation for the Peruvian market
