Building Complex Rehabilitation - Praça do Comércio, Coimbra - MXMA
The intervention strategy is anchored on the premise of enhancing the property income to its fullest, without marginalizing the creation of common spaces and differentiation factors to highlight this housing offer whitin its market. A functionalist perspective which gives a pragmatic answer to a practical problem. Thus, in the recessed area of the building we strategically established the circulation and design the bathrooms. This allows us to place the rooms through the main facades, exposed to the best conditions of ventilation and light, also complying with the rules for rehabilitation in historical centers. It is still a work in progress, as the authorities that approve interventions in the city’s historical center are now being consulted. We are now developing the structural design in order to evaluate the smartest way to combine the historical construction with new innovative constructive systems. |

Countryside Hotel in Poitiers - France
|
This proposal was presented to the stakeholders on an initial phase, in order to showcase the space dynamics and display a first valued budget for the total investment.
The Hotel will be built on the outskirts of Poitiers, and will have total capacity of 60 to 80 people, in 28 standard rooms, 2 suites and 2 rooms adapted for handicapped. The client requested a very specific list of facilities and which led to a clear spatial organization. The social area separates the two private areas of the building, the guests’ private zone and the workers infrastructures. The next step of building definition will be crucial to produce a project and a building that will not only meet the demands of our clients, but also distinguish itself from its local competition. |
Student's Residence - Castelo Branco
Although this is still a prototypical and volumetric work (little to no work has been done in terms of materialism and finishments), the challenge of this project comes from the fact that there will be 2 distinct construction Phases, which will deeply affect the way both architecture and structure is design.
Everything is done in order to optimize the materials and labor for the 2 phases of construction, leaving nothing to chance. As for the project, the first phase presents a dorm with a 14 room capacity and provides several social areas for cooking, fraternizing, studying or doing the laundry. The second phase will increase the building capacity for 32 rooms, allowing the owner to maximize the investment. |

House in Royan, France
|
The client contacted the company with a first basic sketch for a LSF house, from which we analyzed the kind of project he was envisioning, with all of its life dynamics and form specifications. From that point on, we forgot that same original sketch and started building and creating from scratch. Our intention is to adapt the design to the pace of the family while taking advantage of all structural and economic parameters that seriation offers in this type of constructive system. The project was very well received and the client as already initiated the material and equipment choosing process, as we moved into the final touches. With the plans validated, we hope to activate the preparation and construction phase as soon as possible. |
Micro Housing Module in LSF, Coimbra
This is a micro project for a friend and aims to prove that small LSF buildings can, with a great preparation process, be built by costumers who aren’t specialists or own a construction company. It is still in its embrionary stage, and will continue to be explored, but has the potential to become a valid case-study. As for the spatial organization, the client wants a multifunctional room where he can host dinners and celebrations, with the ability to transform itself into a place where he can sleep and perform his lively duties. The result is a mixed use compact box that, from the outside could look like an open air bar stool with a garden shelf. It can be entered by a glazed sliding door which divides the private from the social space, or, works as a transparent barrier that separates winter inner dinners from summer sunset parties. |

Technical Assistance - Metropolis housing complex, Paris
|
This is yet another example of a building whose architecture isn't originally from the author, but for which he gave his contribution and technical assistance throughout different the phases of the construction process. This particular work was done on the disciplines of architecture and technical drawing for Cool Haven, a portuguese company that explores the Light Steel Framing industry. The complex consists of 3 residential buildings that create a patio relation between them, and generate a new micro neighborhood in the outskirts of Paris. |
