RL House

Client: Private

Site: Coimbra , Portugal

Architecture: Guilherme Murta

Year: 2023

Size: 320m2

Status: On going

This project involves the rehabilitation and expansion of a single-family house from the late 1940s, located in the center of Coimbra.

The condition of the property led to the decision to proceed with the partial demolition of the entire interior of the house, retaining only the external walls. This allowed for the reconfiguration and optimization of the internal layout, particularly in its relationship with the garden.

The roof and accesses to the plot were reconfigured, as well as the recreational and garage areas, while efforts are made to avoid disrupting the building’s integration with the street or its relationship with the neighboring property, the Miguel Torga's House Museum.

The project is currently underway and is expected to be completed by the end of 2025.
